The Impacts of Senate Bill 79 on Transportation Equity

In the Public Affairs 155 course “Economics and Equity in Transportation Systems and Policies,” students were separated into teams and tasked with choosing a transportation-related issue and research its equity implications, building off of course concepts. My group mates and I selected Senate Bill 79, which aims to increase medium-density housing development near transit stations, called Transit Oriented Development (TOD).

My primary contributions to this project include analyzing the promise of TOD, gentrification triggered by TOD, and crafting a framework to further equitable TOD.
